Edward Smith
Edward Smith, Cabinet Maker, Upholsterer, and French Polisher, 95, Montrose
Street.—
Mr. Edward Smith is an old-established Glasgow tradesman,
having been engaged in business as a cabinet manufacturer for close upon thirty
years. He commenced business in Great Hamilton Street, afterwards removed to
Candleriggs Street, and finally, about thirteen years ago, settled in his
present premises.
His trade is decidedly a first-class one in every respect, and no establishment in Glasgow, in the same line, enjoys a higher reputation. He manufactures cabinet work of all kinds, and does every description of upholstery, but a leading feature of his business is the manufacture of high-class art furniture, in which he excels. His premises are of considerable extent and are splendidly stocked. The lower flat is used for the display of dining-room and bedroom suites, and the upper one for drawing-room suites and counting-house furniture, &c.
His connection extends all over Scotland. The cabinet works, polishing rooms, &c., are built at the rear of the showrooms and are extensive and well arranged, and a numerous staff of workmen find constant employment thereat.
Of Mr. Smith personally it may be remarked that he is one of the best known and most popular citizens of Glasgow.
