D. L. Shearer & Co., Japanners, Clock Dial Manufacturers and Glass Gilders, 26, East Howard Street.—

    This is a thoroughly representative firm in connection with this important industry. The business was established in Dunlop Street, by John Drew, in 1835, and was acquired by the present proprietors in 1868, they removing to their present commodious premises in 1871. The establishment is fitted with furnaces and all the most approved appliances.

    A notable speciality of this renowned firm is that of japanning and manufacturing clock dials by hand. The firm does a large trade in chaptering and naming watch, time-piece, and gauge dials, and in jobbings for the trade. Being a thoroughly practical tradesman, possessing a frank, obliging manner, Mr. Shearer has long enjoyed the confidence and respect of his large circle of warm supporters.
