J. Rattray, Wholesale and Retail Glass and China Merchant, 253, New City Road, 31, Main Street, Gorbals, and 43, Eglinton Street.—
The glass and china industries have a thorough representative in the well-known firm of J. Rattray. Established in his branch establishment at 253, New City Road in 1876, Mr. Rattray opened his warehouse in Main Street three years ago. The premises consist of a handsome shop, with saloon behind, and is tastefully arranged, displaying an extensive stock of china, earthenware, crystal, and proprietary articles.
Mr. Rattray’s trade, which is wholesale and retail, extends all over the city and into the country. Selling at 10 to 15 per cent, below the usual prices charged by a majority of the trade, this firm, with the assistance of Mr, Rattray’s energy, agreeable manner, and reputed upright principles, has become very popular among householders and shopkeepers, whose warm support he enjoys.
