Alexander Kerr
Alexander Kerr, Family Bread and Biscuit Baker, 569, Duke Street, Dennistoun.—
It will be readily admitted that there are few businesses which play such an important part in the general economy of our advanced civilisation as that of the baker and confectioner, and amongst the many large firms extensively engaged in this branch of trade in Glasgow there are few which offer greater advantages to the public than the well-known establishment of Mr. Alexander Kerr. It is over fourteen years since this business was established by Messrs. Fulton Bros., and the present proprietor took it over some six years ago.
The premises are very extensive and admirably adapted to the business. They comprise a handsome double shop, tastefully decorated, together with spacious warehouse accommodation, and large bakehouse with three ovens constructed on the most approved principles. Under management of Mr. Kerr, the staff of bakers prove themselves to be workmen of the greatest ability and experience.
All kinds of plain and fancy bread, biscuits, pastry, and confectionery are made in large quantities, as well as bride-cakes, birthday cakes, Scotch short bread, and several specialities for which this establishment have a wide celebrity. The famous St. Louis and Austrian brands of flour are largely used.
The proprietor, Mr. Alexander Kerr, possesses the advantage of long and thorough practical experience, and the enthusiasm and earnestness which he displays in the management of his extensive business, combined with his well-known integrity and genial courtesy, have gained the confidence and esteem of a very widespread and valuable connection, and rendered this establishment one of the most popular and best-patronised in the east end of the city.
