Robert Jamieson
Robert Jamieson, Wholesale Tobacconist & Cigar Importer, 3, Argyle Street, and 9, Candleriggs.—
An establishment of considerable celebrity, and probably one of the oldest in its line in the city, is that conducted by Mr. Robert Jamieson, under the title of J. & T. Hodge, which was founded by the well-known city firm of that name in 1836. The premises occupied are vested with an air of antiquity, having been occupied by tobacconists continuously for over a century.
The street frontage consists of a fine double-fronted shop, handsomely fixtured and appointed in every detail, an excellent window display being made. All the best and finest brands of cigars and blends of tobacco are held in stock, together with a unique collection of briar and meerschaum pipes, cigarette-holders, tobacco-pouches, vesta-boxes, &c. Mr. Jamieson was formerly manager to the manufacturing firm of J. & T. Hodge, and for the past twelve years has acted as their town agent, communication between their works in St. Ninian Street and the Argyle Street shop being sustained by telephone. A branch divan is conducted at 9, Candleriggs, where an extensive local trade is done. A thoroughly well-established wholesale trade is done among the principal tobacconists and large buyers in the city and adjacent towns.
Mr. Jamieson is an experienced connoisseur in all matters incidental to the trade, and has won the esteem and regard of all his patrons.
