Thos. Clavering Son & Co.

Thos. Clavering Son & Co., Iron Brokers, 27, St. Vincent Place,—

This business was originally founded more than half a century ago in the same thoroughfare as that in which the firm is still located. The present premises have only been occupied since 1887, and they comprise a spacious suite of offices at 27, St. Vincent Place. An extensive and continually increasing business is carried on under the able management of the joint proprietors, Messrs. Thomas Clavering and John M. Clavering. The sphere of operations taken up by this house includes all branches that may be said to appertain to the business of iron brokers generally. The firm buy and sell largely on commission, and in this direction they deal only with the most reliable manufacturing houses in all parts of the kingdom. Among the leading metals in which they deal may be said such as iron, copper, tin, lead, and many others.

One branch of the business is entirely distinct from the foregoing. The proprietor does a large trade both in selling and buying all descriptions of grain, in which they deal largely. The business is conducted throughout in the most able manner. Messrs. Clavering represent many of the largest and most important houses in the trade, and it may be noted that they finance for the clients for whom they operate. Commanding such a very large trade both at home and abroad, the firm have become widely known in all parts of the kingdom, and have developed a very large and influential trade in every department.
