John Clark
John Clark, Cash Tea, Wine and Spirit Merchant, and Grocer, 677, Govan Road, Govan.—
In connection with the provision industries a firm of which it is necessary to make prominent mention is that of John Clark, cash tea, wine and spirit merchant, whose head quarters are situated at 677, Govan Road, Govan, and branches at 60, Merkland Street, Partick, and at Fairlie, in Ayrshire. Mr. Clark established his business in present premises in 1870.
This establishment consists of a large double shop, which is handsomely fitted and tastefully arranged, and displays a valuable stock of foreign wines and brandies, fine old Scotch whiskies, from famed distilleries, also his famed blend of old whisky, guaranteed five years old, beer and stout by the most famous brewers, and an immense stock of the teas for which the house has been so long renowned.
Having adopted the wise principle of selling for cash, enabling him to share his profits with the customers in selling cheaply, Mr. Clark, with the assistance of his genial manner and reputed high personal qualities, has secured the confidence and enjoys the warm support of a large proportion of the better class householders in and around the districts where his well known warehouses are situated. It may be mentioned that Mr. Clark is also agent for Zimmerman’s Ventilated Automatic Refrigerators, for which the highest testimonials have been obtained, and which, in warm weather, are very valuable for provisions.
