McKINNON WOOD
THE Member of Parliament for St. Rollox Division of Glasgow
was born in 1855, and is a son of Mr. Hugh Wood and Jessie, daughter of the Rev.
Thomas McKinnon. He received his education at Mill Hill School, and at
University College, London. He first made a name for himself in public affairs
as leader of the progressive party in London County Council. He was for a time
Chairman of that body, and entered Parliament as Member for St. Rollox at the
General Election in 1906. In April, he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to
the Board of Education, and in October of the same year became Under Secretary
of State for Foreign Affairs.
His recreations are golf and motoring, and he is a member of the Glasgow
Liberal, the Reform, and the National Liberal Clubs. His residences are in
London and Sussex.
