W.J.S. PATERSON
THE Librarian of Stirling's and Glasgow Public Library was
born in 1871, and was educated partly at Stirling High School and partly at
Hutchesons' Grammar School. After two years as an assistant in the Mitchell
Library, he became Librarian of Dunbarton Public Library for five years, till
his appointment to his present post. He has been the compiler of three library
catalogues, and has written a short sketch of Stirling's Library, which notes
that the library was founded in 1791, and fulfils an important part in the
library work of the city. It contains the Patent Office Publications - is free
for reference purposes - and issues books for home reading on moderate terms.
