THE Professor of New Testament Language, Literature, and Theology in the U.F. College of Glasgow was born at Paisley 5th February, 1856, and educated at the Highlanders' Academy, Greenock, and at Glasgow University and Free Church College. He holds the degrees of M.A., B.D., and D.D., from his alma mater, and D.D. from Chicago Theological Seminary, Princeton University, and Aberdeen. In 1886 he became minister of Broughty Ferry Free Church, and remained there till he received his present appointment in 1897. He has contributed to the Expositor's Bible "The Epistle to the Thessalonians," 1892, and "The Second Epistle to the Corinthians," 1894; and to the Expositor's Greek Testament "The Epistle to the Romans," 1900. His other publications include "Studies in Theology," 1895; "Gospel Questions and Answers," 1896; "The Death of Christ," 1902; and "The Atonement and the Modern Mind," 1903.
